Promising mortals imbued with sorcery, crafting amalgams were elite servants of Bright Shattered Ice in the First Age. While they are far beneath the Exalted in most respects, crafting amalgams can create artifacts nearly as well as elder Solars.

A factory-cathedral reduces Crafting intervals from the baseline of one season to one month.  Wyld-Shaping Technique speeds the construction process tenfold, and can be supplemented by Craftsman Needs No Tools for an additional twenty-seven fold increase at Essence 9.  Together, the final Crafting time is 2.7 hours per roll.

Wyld-Shaping Technique uses a dice pool of 37 (7 Intelligence + 10 Lore + 3 specialty + 17 Excellency). This is added to a crafting dice pool of 40 (+6 Dexterity/Perception + 10 Craft + 3 specialty +5 specialized ideal workshop + 16 Excellency). The total result is an average of 38.5 successes, and nearly always at least 31 successes. In addition, the assistance of 40 other crafting amalgams gives +20 automatic successes, and another +3 automatic successes per Artifact dot.

Three-dot artifacts (difficulty 5, 60 successes, +29 successes from assistants) require 1 roll or 2.7 hours to produce. Four-dot artifacts (difficulty 6, 100 successes, +32 successes from assistants) require 2 rolls or 5.4 hours to produce. Five-dot artifacts (difficulty 7, 250 successes, +35 successes from assistants) require 4 rolls or 10.8 hours to produce. Special ingredients such as the blood of orphans, etc., can be supplied by Wyld Cauldron Technology.

 

BOUND ELEMENTAL SORCERER
Bound elemental sorcerers are magically-inclined savants that have accepted indefinite binding to a manse in return for the opportunity to study sorcery for eternity.
